Welcome Back

Welcome back everyone I hope you had a relaxing holiday and a wonderful new year. New beginnings are so exciting as it is time to start fresh and focus on those new goals.

During our first week back at school we have already had some amazing results. The grade 6 and 7 classes are entering a space themed online art competition so they have been working towards a fast approaching deadline. The above photos are from some of the grade 7 work.

The grade 8 classes are learning about Georgia O’Keeffe and Perspective. My class looking at Georgia O’Keeffe are a very enthusiastic group who seem to genuinely really appreciate her work. Many have chosen a larger size than required which demonstrates their motivation and positive attitude. I am seriously looking forward to seeing the end results.

The Perspective class have been viewing works of art where perspective has been used. they are now learning how to draw letters, boxes, furniture, houses and cars in one point perspective. The next step will be creating a two point perspective water colour painting.

I am also running a group called “Art for the Soul” for the teachers on Wednesdays after school. They have decided to make paper mache and plaster birds and a modern textured canvas also inspired from bird silhouettes. This is going to be a great semester of creativity. I can’t wait.
