Movement- Visual vs Physical, G6

The grade 6 students began their first quarter of art looking at MOVEMENT in art. They used pattern, repetition, tone and colour to create their own optical artworks, that lead the viewer’s eyes through the page. After discussing the difference between visual and physical movement they then chose an action (movement), which represented themselves. This movement could be something they do regularly in their lives or want to learn.

BENEFITS OF MOVEMENT (EXERCISE)

They supported their artwork by learning about the benefits of exercise. Each student chose a quote and turned their artwork into a stunning poster, which is being used to educate and motivate others towards a healthy active life. Soon, these posters will be on display in the MS art gallery (ground floor).

We used Superimpose layers and filters to create the contrasting image and then strengthened their design in Snapseed by adding text and frames.

STUDENT WORK:

Those who finished up earlier used Wordfoto to demonstrate which key words were important to them after completing the unit. These word images were a way to see what they remembered now that the unit was complete.

The final step was to self assess their work on this sheet:Screen Shot 2018-08-26 at 11.03.01 AM.png

It has been a fabulous start to the year. I could not be happier with their results.

WELL DONE GRADE 6, YOU ARE AWESOME!
