Realism To Abstraction With iPads G7

CONGRATULATIONS this has been a very long but extremely successful unit. As mentioned in a previous post the students created realistic animal eyes in chalk.

After giving peer feedback using Lifecards and reflecting on Tellagami, they abstracted their eye using the following iPad apps: FlipOMatic, GlobePhoto and Megaphoto. 15 images were collated and the top 4 were printed. The papers were cut and assembled in a creative relief collage.

Now, they are using a variety of media based on student choice to capture their process and understanding of Abstract art. The students were able to choose from: imovie, Explain Everything, Book Creator, iBook Author, Do Ink or a Digital slideshow using either KeyNote, Prezi, or Google Slides. It was fascinating to see what students chose. I will share their results here when they are all done. So stay tuned!

Here is a video of the students working which I filmed for my COETAIL course. It is so awesome that I thought I’d share it here too. When I stopped and had a look around I was actually amazed by how much was going on and also how exceptionally quiet it was. The art room is not always like this but I just had to capture it.

If the video doesn’t play here is a link.

You can also see all their work on Artsonia. Please feel free to leave comments to the students on Artsonia, here on this Blog or on Creatubbles.
