After creating our complimentary collages we used colour to create an Expressionist portrait. The students had to read about the different moods associated with colour and then hi-light the emotions/moods that represented them. The one which was most important to them became their “base” colour. If it was blue for example, then the rest of the colour scheme had to be cool colours with a touch of warm for contrast.
