Something Is Fishy In Grade 7

The second part of grade 7’s sculpture unit was to create a clay fish which had a function. The students were being assessed on their use of patterns, texture, and joining. The fish had to hold something specific and have a personality. That is a lot to think about!

This fish certainly has personality!

Currently the students are glazing their work. I can’t wait to see them complete WITH their chosen objects for the display. I would love to have the students create another stop motion since they had an introduction with the umbrellas. I bet they would create something amazing.

They will also use Life Cards on the iPads to reflect upon the process. You can see all their work on Artsonia. Please leave comments for the students they love hearing what you think. Soon I will post the complete fish with their mouths filled with exciting objects from candy to jewellery.

This was our first glazed fish.
