So what is Artsonia?
It is on online art museum set up for schools as a safe place to share and celebrate the amazing work of the students. Often parents don’t get to see what is going on in the art room. Even though I have this blog not all parents are viewing it regularly. Artsonia emails you (the parent who has registered with their email) when a new work has been uploaded. It is a fabulous, safe way to share the incredible art with friends and family. You can write messages, buy products with the art work (if in Canada or USA) and join the student’s fan club. There are virtual awards and opportunities to enter art competitions too.
The work will be uploaded during class by the student so all you need to do is register and enjoy the work coming directly to your in box!
This short video explains it very well:
I used this in Ghana for a few years and had very positive comments from the students and parents. This is what the home page looked like.
You can click on a unit for example “Tonal Light Bulb”. Then the page with all the students work will open up.
Is there one you want to see bigger? No problem just click on it and you will see the student’s personal art gallery.
In this gallery you can become a fan, write comments about their gorgeous work and even purchase that work on a necklace/card/mug (if you have a shipping address in Canada or USA).
The students will also use this platform to reflect on their work. An art work means so much more when you can read what the student was thinking.
Its a brilliant site which I am very excited to share with SSIS. Our home page link is: http://www.artsonia.com/schools/school.asp?id=150146 so stay tuned we will have some galleries loaded next week as long as the parent permissions are signed. I will update you on this blog when there is a new gallery added.
ENJOY viewing and being involved in the awesome MS art program at SSIS.
My art club students will also be creating galleries. Exciting times ahead!
