The Staff Play With Clay

I organized two trips for the staff over the last two weekends. They had the choice to sign up to clay and/or batiking. Some staff signed up for both options while others chose one.

We began with a tour of the facility and learnt about the process involved with making clay. Happy, the potter then showed us how to use the pug mill and how to throw a pot on a two different types of wheels. DSCN0594

Everyone had the opportunity to throw one pot on a wheel and to hand build another pot. What was really fabulous about this trip was the fact that it was impossible to fail! Happy was there to help on the wheel and for the hand built pots we were given a pre-thrown bowl which you could carve or model as you wish. You can see in the photos how creative the staff were. This was a VERY popular trip that many of the staff want to bring their kids back to.

DSCN0607You can find Happy’s ceramics down the dirt road right next to the Wild Gecko in East Legon. You can book a class by calling: 0244144746. It was so relaxing and ran only for two hours so we still had our weekend to enjoy.

I would highly recommend this as something to do while staying or visiting Accra.
