“Basa Basa” Markets in Ghana By Grade 6

Look at these stunning markets painted with a knife by grade 6. They have been influenced by Ablade Glover’s work. Please scroll down to the previous post for more details.

DSCN0204The students began with basic stylized African figures, followed by a cool colour market scene, then it was time to try a warm coloured market. I also wanted the students to experience the difference of painting wet in wet and and wet on dry. For one of the series they painted wet warm colours onto dry cool colours. This was followed with wet in wet where the students had fun painting with all the colours. I have to say those images were actually my favourite. I wonder what Glover will think of their beautiful markets?

Exciting news the students will be able to meet Glover THIS week at an exhibition at the American Ambassador’s place. Everyone from LCS is invited as long as you bring your ID card. This is a show not to be missed! Jennifer Goss will also be exhibiting which will be exciting for my grade 7 class.
