My 9/10 classes are starting their new unit “Animals in Art”. This task was inspired by my Pinterest board: http://www.pinterest.com/rjardin/animals/
To help the students generate creative ideas we used Art Rage and layers. I found this tool very helpful because it encouraged the students to think outside the box. They were using colours and patterns that they hadn’t thought of before. It is also brilliant that they can save their work continuously to Art Rage as many of the progress stages could inspire an art work.
Today I gave them a one day challenge of drawing their animal and filling it with different colours to their digital art using chalks. This had a double purpose as it gave the students another opportunity to practise drawing their animals and also providing a second colour plan.
Considering they only had one class to complete these I have decided to give them a little more time during their next class. They will then create an oil pastel and water colour painting as a third colour plan. All development is being tracked on their blogs.
