The grade 6 students have been participating in a class portrait challenge. Since they started the year with me they have been learning about portraits. At the start of every class we have completed a 10min exercise from upside down drawing, blind contours to charcoal drawing which helps improve our observational skills and understanding of portraiture.
The goal for this competition was for the students to create as many portraits as they possibly could at home and during those 10mins each class. The prizes were based on skills, enthusiasm, quality and quantity of portraits. We were meant to have two winners but I couldn’t decide so I am proud to announce 4 winners:
Congratulations to Kanak, Laure, Brielle and Marine for all your hard work. They took home a beautiful certificate, new watercolour pencils and a brush. I’d also like to congratulate Samyukta and SuYeon who were very close to winning if only I had more prizes!
Well done grade 6 it has been fun. After the October break the students will be teaching their new portrait skills to a child from a local school. They will be teaching them one on one. I can’t wait to see what they create together.
