Grade 7 Tonal Development

My grade 7 students are working towards their first major piece. We began by comparing different pencils, then the students tried a value scale with 6B and practiced tonal techniques such as hatching and stippling.

I gave the class a photocopy of a photo of a light bulb and demonstrated how to draw and tone the image. They all did such a brilliant job I thought I should share it with you. Now, they are planning something creative to go inside the light bulb. So far we have under the sea cities, space and jungle scenes. I am really looking forward to seeing their final piece. They should be finished sometime next week.
