What a Success the ART Celebration Was!

This time I had the grade 8,9 and 10 art students running workshops for younger students and adults. This proved to be very, very popular as the attendance was an absolute record for any exhibition we have held over the last couple of years (in fact in my entire teaching career). The younger students listened carefully to the older ones and tried very hard to create the best art work they could. We also set up a group chalk painting which was white at the beginning and looks absolutely amazing now. Seeing the whole community mix was inspiring. I could not have wanted for more. Of course none of this would have been possible without the hard work of Tobias, Mary, Nicolas and Patricia. I have to say I am so proud of all of my students and am thrilled to hear the excitement in the art room after the event as everyone had such a fabulous time.

From the principal

Rebecca and Mary,

I just want you to know that yesterday’s MYP art party was a highlight of the year for me.  Between yesterday’s experience, the IB Art exhibition, the Lincoln Shorts, the LIFF, the coffee house, the HS & MS productions, the MYP music evening….WOW…  what amazing progress for the visual and performing arts at LCS.

The workshops that the kids did with ES children were absolutely spectacular….I really really appreciate what you gave and what you organized and the atmosphere you cultivated.  It was a special afternoon for the LCS community and you must be saluted.

The drama evening was a beautiful way to close what was a great event for LCS.  I thought the kids displayed great poise and courage (especially our gr 6 kids who did monologues!).  And Andy Teye’s original piece was really something.

Well done to all. I am absolutely thrilled by what happened yesterday.

And…by the way…the art work on display is pretty special too.
