Now That the Portraits are Complete

The student applied their mixing skills to this cute piece of art. They had to use tints and tones to create the sea. The fish were sketched from ipads and then painted in black paint. This was a small task which was very helpful while the rest of the students completed their portraits.

Now they have begun unit two Adinkra Printmaking. I wanted the students to gain a variety of skills in one project as they only have 4 weeks before they leave me (their art course is a very short 12 week trimester).  We have already learnt about the Ghanaian Adinkra stamps which have a significant meaning here in Ghana. The students have selected their favourite design and drawn it onto rubber. They will then print their designs and combine them creatively with a painting of African figures.

I have never done this task before so we shall see how it goes. If it is too much then we will have a lovely collaged Adinkra poster. 🙂 I am looking forward to seeing the results, especially since the time limit is tight.
